Please join us on Zoom for an engaging presentation by three men formerly incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison. Dwight is 66 years young, grew up in Hollywood California, raised as an only child until later in life when his sister was born during his father’s second marriage. Poor decisions and poor life choices led Dwight to prison at the age of 47. 17.5 years later he was found suitable for parole, with his last 10 years spent at San Quentin.  He was released in July of 2020 in the middle of the serious San Quentin Covid-19 outbreak. He now resides in Los Angeles and is part of the Francisco Homes Transitional Program as house manager for one of their eight residences. In addition, he is a member of the band Quentin Blue, a musical entity originally formed in San Quentin whose members have been released. They have reunited and are writing and recording in Los Angeles.

Gino was sentenced under California’s 3 strike law in 1997.  He paroled from prison late January, 2021.Raised on the east coast, he endured an abusive childhood and sought healing at an early age.  It wasn’t until he came to prison that he was able to confront his inner demons, and through extensive programming, learned how to transform darkness into light. Gino endured the San Quentin nightmare during the midst of the covid pandemic. He witnessed firsthand the frailty of the human condition because of the system’s inability to handle a medical emergency.  He now resides in Los Angeles at Francisco Homes and has been involved in community service, has begun recording his music with producer and friend Dwight, and has started a support group for recently returned citizens on Zoom.

Frederick is 67 years old and was raised in Los Angeles, California where he was a long haul truck driver and the father of two sons. He was released from San Quentin in November of 2019. He has successfully reconnected with his family and now works in the mental health field for the company Building Lives as a case manager. While at San Quentin he was in a number of self help groups including the Restorative Justice program which he helped facilitate. Restorative Justice allowed him to understand who he was and who he is today and how to be accountable for the things he had done and to make amends as much as possible

This program is being presented by the Congregation Shomrei Torah Social Action Committee.
