Wednesday, April 3, 2024 • 24 Adar II 5784
7:00 PM - 8:30 PMThis event is for Shomrei Torah members only.
A rare opportunity to meet an IDF reservist who served in Gaza and hear his unique perspective on the Israel Hamas war.
"This talk isn't about politics, policy or history. Rather, it is about grappling with human experience and emotion. By making my experience accessible and by sharing thoughts and feelings as an Israeli combat soldier and liberal Jew, I hope to bring softness and understanding to our hearts through emphasizing the complexity of the reality we are currently in. I believe that these facets of my identity, along with having spent substantial time in both Israel and North America, can offer a meaningful perspective into the difficult events of our time." - AdirChai
About the speaker
AdirChai Haberman-Browns is a spiritual entrepreneur, musician, founder and leader of the Kula Liba community in Jerusalem. After serving in an elite commando unit in the 2014 Gaza operation, he is now a reservist in the current Israel-Hamas war, operating in central Gaza for a month and a half and now stationed on Israel’s northern border. AdirChai lived in Boston for 10 years as a child and has been involved with American Jewish communities for the past 9 years, leading services during the High Holidays, Shabbatot and Chaggim. As he often works to bridge the gap between Israel and the diaspora, he now sees the importance of sharing his unique perspective as both a liberal Jew and Israeli soldier in combat to help make sense of this difficult reality.
"Of all of the difficult and special moments I had with my team in Gaza, this is me serving golden milk at a ceremony I led before we went out on a late night assignment. This golden milk ceremony was focused on appreciating the beauty in our lives, specifically while facing danger and uncertainty." (Picture on right)
