A Land for All: Two States One Homeland

Sunday, September 22, 2024 19 Elul 5784

1:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Rula HardelAs we approach the first anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel and the ensuing Israeli war in Gaza, we can choose to see not just tragedy, but an opportunity to work for change. So says A Land for All, a new Israeli-Palestinian “think tank” which has a fresh plan for Palestinian-Israeli coexistence.

Join the Social Action Committee for a video with A Land for All co-directors Dr. Rula Hardal (pictured top, right), a Palestinian political scientist, and Ms. May Pundak (pictured bottom, right), an Israeli human rights lawyer and daughter of one of the architects of the Oslo accords.

The 70-minute video will be followed by refreshments and small-group conversation. The event is for CST members only.  Pre-registration is required. Register below.

A Land for All had been working on its proposal and its Israeli-Palestinian board of directors for years, but it’s first board meeting was on Oct. 10, 2023. May and Rula say that the existential crisis that brought ALFA to fruition can propel us all toward finding a political, not military, solution to the Israeli-Palestinian problem.

May PundakThere’s no substitute to seeing May and Rula on video, telling their personal stories. But some of ALFA’s key ideas are:

  • ONE HOMELAND - “No one is going anywhere.” – Both Jews and Palestinians have a legitimate claim to all the land “between the River and the Sea.”
  • TWO STATES – Separate Israeli and Palestinian states, with borders along the 1967 lines.
  • ONE FEDERATION – The goal of free movement – and residency – within the homeland: Citizens of Palestine could be legal residents of Israel, and Israeli citizens could be legal residents of Palestine.  Israeli settlers in the occupied territories could remain – as Israeli residents of Palestine.
  • REFUGEE RETURN – Palestinian refugees could return. But if they want to settle in Israel, they would be Palestinian residents of the state of Israel.
  • MUTUAL RESPECT – Each side would work to understand the trauma of the other. Palestinians and Israelis would enjoy security and self-determination.
