Congregation Shomrei Torah is pleased to offer its second semester of this year’s “Introduction to Judaism” course. This series will run for 7 weeks, and will be taught by Rabbi Cheryl Rosenstein. Classes will meet at Congregation Shomrei Torah for 75 minutes. You do not need to have attended the first semester to participate.
Included in the lectures and discussion will be the basic elements of Judaism, with emphasis on the Jewish life cycle rites, the synagogue service and the practical aspects of observing Judaism. All are welcome to attend. It does not matter whether you wish a refresher in Judaism, are “just curious,” or if you are a candidate for conversion or marriage. Members and non-members alike are invited.
Students are encouraged to attend at least two Shabbat evening services. Those evenings are the individual’s choice.
Our required text is Steve M. Wylen’s Settings of Silver, Second Edition (Paulist Press). If you are unable to order it online or at your local bookshop, please let Rabbi Rosenstein know as soon as possible: rabbir@me.com.
