The Musical Art Quintet, led by composer and bassist Sascha Jacobsen, merges classical and world music traditions, creating an electrifying sound. Although classically trained, the members of The Musical Art Quintet are skilled improvisors and each one brings a special area of expertise. Whether it is Jazz, Argentine Tango, Afro-Cuban, or Klezmer, the Quintet is at home.

Composed by Sascha Jacobsen as part of an SF Arts Commission Cultural Equity Grant, the Musical Art Quintet will perform “Kanta Judezmo”, an oratorio sung in Ladino and English. It tells the story of the Sephardic Diaspora, through the eyes of an immigrant woman forced from her home on a journey to forge a new life. This will be an immersive performance with live music, singing, and Spanish guitar.
