In the depths of the pandemic, Asian Jews from around the country started making videos about their experience and sharing them online. So was born LUNAR, a vibrant community of mostly young Asian Jews, which produces videos about their experience and has created a unique Asian Jewish Haggadah.

This final, in-person and Zoom event in the series celebrating Jewish racial diversity will feature three members of LUNAR Zooming into our sanctuary to share a video, discussion and excerpts from their Asian Jewish Haggadah.

The TEAM LUNAR emissaries:

Maryam Chishti (she/her) the daughter of an Indian/Muslim father and a Jewish mother, has a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University. Maryam runs and lives in a Moishe House,  a place for young Jews in New York City.

Is Perlman (they/them) is a transgender, Asian Jewish artist, poet and designer, pursuing their undergraduate studies at Columbia University. They work primarily in installation and performance art.

Jenni Rudolph (she/her) is a Los Angeles-based songwriter, vocalist and vocal producer.  With a team of other mixed-race creatives, she has created a song, music video and documentary called “Water & Oil,” about mixed-race identity.

Some 40% of young Bay Area Jewish households are now racially diverse 1 yet most Jews of Color report feeling discriminated against in Jewish settings.2

Let’s make sure everyone feels welcome at CST!
