The Annexation Debate in Israel

As part of the new coalition agreement, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has indicated that any time after July 1 he will begin implementing a plan to annex parts of the West Bank.  In this talk we will explore what are the implications of such a plan and how the current political situation in Israel informs the debate.  

Eran Kaplan is the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Professor in Israel Studies at SFSU.  He is the author of several books—his latest is Projecting the Nation: History and Ideology on the Israeli Screen, which came out in May, 2020.  At SFSU he teaches courses on Modern Israel, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the history of Jerusalem and Israeli Cinema.
