What is going on? Why does race-based social inequality continue in the United States?

This three-session Zoom class invites you to learn more about the basics of race and ethnic relations and how racism is perpetuated both personally and through institutions.
Through presentation and discussion, we’ll consider: What is “systemic racism?” What role do those identified as white and as Jews play in it? How can we help dismantle it?

Over several decades, Judith Richlin-Klonsky taught, and learned from, thousands of college students in courses dealing with race and ethnicity offered at UCLA, SRJC, and SSU. Classes explored race and ethnic relations in everyday interactions and in institutions such as health and mental health care, education, family, and the economy.
Judith holds a Master’s degree in family therapy from the California Graduate Institute and received a Ph.D. in sociology from UCLA.
