Forum on Antisemitism with JCRC Rep Paula Simon

    Sunday, Feb 23rd 2:00p to 3:30p
Please RSVP. The reported rise in written and verbal expressions of antisemitism, white nationalism and violence directed at Jews is anxiety producing. Our sensitivities are heightened, and for many younger Jews, the first time they have seriously questioned Jewish individual and communal safety and security.

    Rabbis Tisch with Ruth Sohn

    Friday, Mar 13th 6:15p
Crossing Cairo: A Jewish Woman&rsquo:s Encounter with Egypt Friday, March 13, 6:15 PM $18 Suggested donation for the catered dinner, please RSVP to the office. In 2006, Rabbi Ruth Sohn and her husband and two sons lived in Cairo for six months. Even now, more than ten years later, their experiences offer a fresh personal perspective on what it is like for a Jewish family to immerse themselves in a Muslim culture and society. Advised not to share the fact that they are Jewish, they discover what it means first to hide and then increasingly to share their Jewish identity. Would it be possible for her and her family, Sohn wondered, to cross the barriers of language, culture, and religion to form real friendships and find a home among Egyptians?
