January Rabbinic Search Update

Since the search for an interim rabbi began last fall, seven individuals submitted their resumes and personal statements in application for the position. Three candidates with exceptional backgrounds were invited to meet with the Interim Search Committee by Zoom. In general, we declined to interview those applicants who did not have the desired training and/or specific experience as an interim rabbi.

Based on the virtual interviews, three candidates will be visiting CST during January. Their visits will include a formal in-person interview, brief conversations with clergy and key staff, a teaching presentation to the Board of Directors, and informal opportunities for the Committee to get to know each candidate better. And as the candidates simultaneously learn more about CST, they will be invited to articulate ways in which they could contribute to our community’s transition process.

There are many ways for members to take part in the transition process, including assisting in planning farewell events for Rabbi George (see below) and welcome events for our interim rabbi. Look for an announcement this month about how to express interest in serving on the recruitment committee for the long-term rabbi.

April 7: Legacy Reception with Rabbi George and Laura (for Legacy Circle Members only)

May 19: Simcha Simcha event and fundraiser, celebrating Shomrei Torah’s 50th Anniversary and Rabbi George’s retirement. 6 – 10 PM at The Backdrop. 

May 24: Family Shabbat Dinner & Rabbi George Farewell. 

June 14: Musical Shabbat Service composed by Nolan Gasser in honor of Rabbi George

June 28: Rabbi George’s last Shabbat & Tribute Book Presentation.
