Congregation Shomrei Torah

Tradition of Giving 2022-2023

“Tradition” isn’t just a song belted out by Tevye in “Fiddler on a Roof.” Tradition is the mortar that keeps our community intact –whether it’s your Bubbe’s rugalach recipe, a Rosh Hashanah afternoon hike with friends or sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with family at Kol Nidre.

For more than two years, clergy, office staff, lay leaders and many volunteers have sought to keep our traditions vibrant, while respecting the challenges of safely gathering.

We know that many CST members sustained financial losses during the pandemic and others have been challenged by the current economic uncertainties and will not be able to contribute to Shomrei Torah as they have in the past.

Even in the best of financial times, membership pledges cover less than 60 percent of the costs of synagogue operations. Tradition of Giving, our annual campaign, plays a critical role in closing that financial gap and allowing us to ensure that our traditions not only continue – but thrive.

This year, Tradition of Giving will start with break-the-fast on Wednesday, October 5 and will continue through January 31, 2023. While we welcome any size donation to this critical annual campaign, we hope you will consider a gift at one of these levels: $118, $180, $360, $500, $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000.

Your participation in the Tradition of Giving is vital to keeping our community strong and is sincerely appreciated.

Rabbi George, Eli Weinzveg, President of the CST Board of Directors
