December 14 Rabbinic Update

December 14, 2024

December update from the Interim Search Committee

The Interim Search Committee has interviewed via Zoom a number of applicants for the position of Interim Rabbi at Congregation Shomrei Torah. Based on their training and experience, and our interactions with them, we have so far identified three candidates who could be good matches for our community. Each has accepted our invitation to visit us in Santa Rosa so that the Committee can get to know them better and they can learn more about Shomrei Torah.  Whether from this pool of outstanding candidates or additional applicants, we feel confident that we will find a special rabbi to serve Shomrei Torah during this transitional period.

Sometime next spring, the CST Board of Directors will begin to form a search committee for a long-term rabbi, with the intention of filling the position by July 2025. During the search, there will be ways for the CST community at large to offer input on the selection. To ensure that the committee itself represents a range of demographic groups, interests, and experience at CST, members who would like to serve on it will be asked to share some basic information about their availability, involvement at CST, and particular interest in assisting in the selection process. A description of the expected workload and timeline for the long-term search team will be available within the next few months, along with guidance about the committee-application procedure.

If you have questions or comments about the rabbinic search process, contact Judith Richlin-Klonsky or Eli Weinzveg by using our contact us form.
