Listening for a Change seeks to promote understanding and acceptance through empowering people in our community to share their story and build connections with others.  In our fast-paced society, we infrequently take the time to know and see the people in our community and workplaces, which often breeds suspicion, stereotyping, and other-izing.  Listening for a Change uses oral history interviewing as a tool for community members to listen more effectively and engage others across ethnic, religious, sexual, class, generational, language, and geographic barriers.  Through active listening and asking questions, interviewers develop empathy for others and build a greater capacity for understanding differences.

Phyllis Rosenfield, Executive Director and one of the founders of Listening for a Change, will talk to us about how the program works to achieve their goals.  Phyllis is a long time member of Shomrei Torah and has been an active member of the Temple.  Phyllis has served on numerous boards and commissions, including Chair of the Sonoma County Commission on Human Rights and President of the Sonoma County League of Women Voters. Please join us for this interesting presentation.

We request a donation of $10 for the meal. Please register by 3PM Friday so we will have enough food for everyone.
