2020-21 Religious School Registration Form

Dear Shomrei Torah Families,

As we conclude another year of religious school, the STaRS Committee would like to thank our dedicated teachers, madrichim, support staff, students, and families for another incredible year, and especially for their commitment to Jewish education through these past weeks of distance learning.  It was heartwarming to see our STaRS community praying together through Zoom on the closing day Tefilah, and comforting to witness our religious school adeptly pivot to online classes, providing much needed continuity over these last weeks.  During these uncertain times, it can be difficult to plan for the coming months, weeks, days, or even dinner.  Amidst all of this uncertainty, one of the things that we can count on is our unwavering commitment to each other and the immeasurable returns gained through being a part of this community.

The STaRS Committee wants to assure all families that religious school will continue in the fall with a high-quality program that ensures the safety and health of our students and staff.  We are planning exciting learning opportunities that can be effectively modified for in-person, distance learning, or hybrid models.  Students will experience a curriculum that carefully balances Jewish values, culture, and Hebrew, including art projects, music, individual attention, special events, and more.  In the event that distance learning continues in the fall, we will focus on providing increased levels of at-home engagement through activity boxes and other creative approaches.  Our plans will closely follow the state and local health guidelines and will be announced more definitively as those guidelines emerge.

It is undeniable that the shelter-in-place orders are having an unprecedented affect on our economy.  No family will be turned away from STaRS due to financial hardship.  Please request financial assistance on the registration form as needed, or contact Rabbi Stephanie Kramer for assistance throughout the school-year.  Registration for the 2020-21 STaRS school-year is now open and we encourage all families to take advantage of the “early-bird” registration discount of $50 per student by registering before August 1, 2020.

Like our ancestors before us, we will persevere through these trying times and gain strength by overcoming the challenges.  Our children will only benefit from continuing their Jewish education, and arguably need the wisdom of Torah and community engagement now more than ever.  We look forward to another meaningful year for the Shomrei Torah Religious School and wish you all the best.

חֲזַ֤ק חֲזַ֤ק וְנִתְחַזַּק֙

May you go from strength to strength,

The STaRS Committee
