The Interim Search Committee continues to review applications from several rabbis specifically trained and experienced in assisting congregations in transition from the previous rabbinic leadership to a new long-term rabbi. The applications reflect a remarkable array of talents and outlooks that various candidates will bring to the congregations where they will serve as Interim Rabbi.
In discussing their values, applicants express (among other things) their commitment to community, diversity, relationships, welcoming members, organizational revitalization, deep connections, and Jewish culture (including food!). And their leadership styles are described as inspirational, compelling, empathetic, compassionate, and uplifting. The depth and breadth of talented leaders in our Jewish community is impressive and the Committee is excited to begin interviewing its top candidates. Once selected, it’s anticipated that our Interim Rabbi will be with us from (approximately) July 2024 through June 2025.
In the meantime, plans are underway for a series of celebrations of Rabbi George’s years with Congregation Shomrei Torah and opportunities to say good-bye and wish him and Laura well.
